Week 3b- Online Questionnaire with Surveymonkey:D

Creating an online questionnaire is perhaps the most exciting part of this course. Honestly, I have never get involved with it before and it was a good experience- it was like asking people to join in the sharing of knowledge and hard work. (Creating a questionnaire was not easy indeed)

From Tengku Azlan's lecture on this questionnaire task, its features and the guidelines to it, I take it that creating a questionnaire is not easy. It should be based on certain criteria, like the following,

    1. Write a short questionnaire
    2. Use simple words
    3. Relax your grammar
    4. Assure a common understanding
    5. Start with interesting questions
    6. Don't write leading question
    7. Avoid double negatives
    8. Balance rating scales
    9. Don't make the list of choices too long
    10. Avoid difficult concepts
    11. Avoid difficult recall questions
    12. Use Closed-ended questions rather than Open-ended ones
    13. Put your questions in a logical order
    14. Pre-test your survey
    15. Naming your survey
    16. Cover memo or introduction

Following the guidelines above are an add-up value for the questionnaire created as I have to admit here that some questionnaires are really difficult and mind-testing which, by referring to my lecturer, is not a good element. I hope that our group (W. Syazwani Nasuha and I) questionnaire is not too difficult. But, if it is, let us know. Here is the link to our group questionnaire,

No matter how high or low the tide is, we sailors should equip ourselves with knowledge. There is student without teacher, but there is no teacher without teacher. Good day to you, may God bless you :D

Week 3a- Literature Review- Windows vs Ubuntu

Salam and good morning to willing readers who have never stopped to reach the top :)

For Week 3a, it was a study on educational research process. My group (W. Syazwani Nasuha and I) have decided to choose the topic of 'Windows versus Ubuntu' under our previous task's activity that is OS or Operating System. We selected the topic as it was an eye-opening ICT issue for us- due to the fact that Syazwani and I have never really knew about other OS except for Windows.

So, by studying this matter, we both feel really good to be able to share the information with others :D

Surfing the internet through website and journal articles, we found out about the existence, and recommended free OS that are reliable indeed based on their customers' feedback.

One of them is Ubuntu which also comes with Edubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu. I know the names are pretty funny but they come under meaningful and noble purposes. One of my friends mentions this issue as to be related to Rwanda massacre long time ago. (This is a not-proven fact, so be wise and don't make it a point if you don't know about it :)

When it comes to compare these two OS, we tend to become bias and support Ubuntu more- practically because it is free, much more reliable, complete and sophisticated. These factors are looked forward by smart computer users who prefer free-of-conflicts OS. (Which may mean that Windows always produce better OS after their previous one and I am quiet skeptic about it- do they really improve it so the price can be raised higher?) Nevertheless, I could not and would not deny the fact that it has done a lot for me and my family. Praise be to Allah and credits to the inventors :DD

Windows and Ubuntu have features that are quiet shocking. You may want to see them by following this link,
http://www.stchman.com/ub_vs_win.html

Honestly, if you are a computer-savvy user, you may want to consider using Ubuntu OS.

Below are some of its specialties.

Speaking of security level, one reliable source said that Ubuntu OS will never get infected by virus that easily. This piece of information could be one of the main factors as to why users change their OS to Ubuntu- a standard version like Windows XP. As an addition, like what has been mentioned above, this free OS also comes with Edubuntu, an OS that is designed for students. For kids who just started to explore the richness of knowledge and skills through ICT learning, this OS is just perfect for them. It can boost their spirit to explore, undeniably :D

A latest version of Edubuntu,

Its specialties

Amazing isn't it ? :D

After typing the conclusion of the elaboration about Windows versus Ubuntu, I realize the fact that being a latecomer in the modernisation and upgrading of ICT development would be such a waste, especially as a student.

Till then, drill the fact prepared :D

Week 2b- C/LMS- Course/Learning Management System

* Keeping up with the technology modernization has started to become my new interest. :)

Course or Learning Management System (C/LMS) is undeniably a new topic for me. I do know of the existence of the systematic system that manages files, information and other elements for an institution or a business but I do not know of the terms used or its related abbreviations. Well, thanks to this subject, firstly from the deepest of heart.

Based on the report done with my cooperative pair, W. Syazwani Nasuha, (following the guidelines of 5wh- what, why, where, who and how) I have summarised it for blog update except for the open source. That one is worth exploring :)

WHAT IS C/LMS ?
 LMS is a software application for the administration that enables the management

WHY USE C/LMS ?
1. Enhance communication
2. Keeps student interested
3. Helps faculty keeps up with the cycle of technology
4. Helps students prepare for the class and examinations

WHERE CAN WE USE C/LMS?
1. Long-distance learning
2. Anywhere, as long as there is Internet connectivity.
3. Wide collaboration businesses

WHO USES C/LMS?

Government
 Prevention Agencies
 Healthcare
 Automotive
 Transportation
 Financial Services
 Education
 Small to Medium Enterprises
 Any organization that wants to compete effectively

ADVANTAGES OF USING C/LMS
A) Maintain a good competency learning environment as well as ensure consistency
B) Educators may have an immediate evaluation for their students as LMS system
use „anytime anywhere‟ access.
C) Reduce cost such as expenditure on travels, print materials, training salaries and meals
D) The process of interaction between students and educators or students and reliable resources can take place at anytime anywhere which will make use of their time effectively.

Week 2 (Think, Pair, Share)

For this second week, we are required to think, discuss and finish Assignment 1 which is under the quotation of 'Think, Pair and Share'. This assignment is to be discussed  in FB group by the pair. The following topics are :-

1. 21st Century Skills
2. Learning Abouf ICT
3. Thinking skills and ICT
4. Internet and Computer Security (Virus, Spam, Phishing)
5. Operating System
6. Original and licensing software
7. Open source Software
8. Web 2.0 in education
9. E-Learning
10. Mobile learning

Out of democratic vote, my pair (W. Syazwani Nasuha) and I have to drill our block of thinking on topic 5- 'Operating System' a.k.a OS. Then, we search out about the topic using search engines and we are lucky to find some information and are glad to share the new knowledge which is now ready to be opened at

http://www.facebook.com/groups/187308057994337?view=doc&id=190804010978075

'OS' or Operating System actually refers to the main software installed on computer which allows other minor softwares to be installed. Here, it refers to Windows (all types- Wind. 7, Vista, XP), MAC and as such.

Usually, computers or laptops come with this software- Windows. It could be because it really is sophicticated and the most used one. This facilitates softwares and files' sharing.

There is another possible explanation for OS. A webpage refers to it as the printers, CD-drivers, CPUs, keyboards and other parts. But, this fact is not as supported as the first definition above.

Reflection.

It was exciting actually when I got to know about this one. This is the first time in my life to know that there exist OS. It shows how the digital world is expanding fast- when one thing is new today and tomorrow is already a history.

I opine that people should use Windows as it is the most used one in order to ease up their work. Choosing this OS could really affect one's work and surely, no one would want to be crammed with work if their OS is not compatible with others' when we know that we live in globalised modernization.

- Enjoy it? I do :) -

First Week Class

Salam. Good day :)
Honestly, I have never known that there exist a Yahoo! group. Well, it is a good thing to know it.

The registration was started with creating email accounts under Yahoo! and Google. After that, as what had been asked, I editted the signatures for both accounts, setting them with information of my name, my unit and my teacher training institute before sending an ethical email to Dr. Siti Fatimah Mohd Yassin, our course coordinator from UKM, Mr. Tengku Norazlan Tengku Sulaiman, our course lecturer and Mr. Mohammad Fariduddin Wajdi Anthony of IPG Sarawak.

* The following links are also added ;

* So, those loved and knowledgeable followers are invited (weng3) to visit them. Hm3

The story behind it was somewhat......... perplexing and bewildering (signing in and out was making my brain racing to think more and digest more information! Fuyowh! )

- Firstly, I created my new Facebook account with official Google email (wannazira3191@gmail.com) - with user name Wan Nazira under the link above.
- After that, I add my 19 classmates, course lecturer (KuLan- famous nickname) and surely Dr. Siti Fatimah Mohd Yassin the course coordinator.
- Then, I set up my username for Facebook as 'wchenor' as it won't approve the username for Google email.
- The group story came in- the closed group which is under my name of course and I invite the 'loveables' (classmates, course coordinator and course lecturer)
 Fuyoh :P

yahoo! groups.
* This is the first time I create my Yahoo! group and I found out that it was fun :) literally, friends!
* Before that, I signed up using Yahoo! account so that I can join groups.yahoo.com/group/ge1155ipg/ which belong to course coordinator Dr. Siti Fatimah Mohd Yassin.
*Only after that, I went to groups.yahoo.com so that I can create my own group which is named with A135711, Wan Nazira binti Che Nor, IPG KDRI. Like what had been asked to do from the task paper, I invited the loveables :DD

Blog oh blog!
* Blog writing is a great tool for academic purposes like seriously insya-Allah it is :D
* I create an official blog using the Google account and typed something in it..in here as what you are reading it now of course :P

Then, it is simply done. . in some manners, it is not wah3

Reflection of what I have learned for this week.

* Mr. Norazlan explained to us about the course proforma and gave us the details about it which was understandable.
* It is about giving chances to students to learn ( the internet issue hmm about the ones that are blocked which benefit students more..if we are using them accordingly..)
***Anyway, back to topic of education.

ONE THING THAT IS REALLY FUN ABOUT ALL THIS IS THAT IT ALLOWS US TO LEARN THINGS THAT WE KNOW NOT BEFORE AND IT..

- Seriously, updates me on latest internet modernisation
- opens my eyes to internet- that it is not as easy as we thought and it is not as useless as it was thought if we know how to benefit it..HONESTLY LIKE REALLY muhuu
- I got the chance to communicate with my classmates (academically -love the term haha) and get to know how efficient Dr.Siti Fatimah Mohd Yassin is.. ( a wow aspect that makes us learn to appreciate what Allah Taala gives us and use it wisely whenever time permits it :D insya-Allah)

* It was quite fun messing with my head on creating the accounts and the group but I love it- as they are for noble purposes (education) wihiii..

That's all. Special thanks to those who dare to read this writing kikikiki ( because it's long I know )
